"This image portrays Gaja Lakshmi, the fourth form in the Ashta Lakshmi group, revered as the bestower of animal wealth, particularly cattle, and symbolic royal power. The term gaja, meaning “elephant,” evokes both agricultural prosperity and regal strength. Traditionally venerated by farmers and rulers alike, her blessings encompass both sustenance and authority.
Gaja Lakshmi is shown seated on a pink lotus, flanked by a pair of white elephants—male and female—who pour sacred waters from vessels. She has four hands: two hold lotuses, one is in Abhaya mudra (protection), and the other in Varada mudra (blessing). Her presence affirms the vital role of animals in human welfare and reminds devotees to treat them with reverence and compassion."
