"This model is a painted wooden recreation of Krishna as a child, dancing triumphantly atop the serpent Kaliya. Krishna is depicted in mid-dance, one foot planted on the serpent’s many heads, the other lifted gracefully. He is richly adorned with jewelry, armlets, anklets, and a decorated waistband, and his hair is styled in a side bun with an elaborate crown.
The story comes from the Bhagavata Purana, where young Krishna subdues the venomous serpent Kaliya who had poisoned the Yamuna River. Dancing on his multiple heads, Krishna defeats the serpent and restores purity to the waters, demonstrating his divine power even in childhood."
