This striking sculpture, titled Simha-Ganesha, creatively merges the forms of Lord Ganesha and Narasimha, depicting Ganesha in the ferocious aspect of Narasimha after his defeat of the demon Hiranyakashipu. The figure stands powerfully over the vanquished demon, embodying Narasimha’s intense rage and protective ferocity. In one hand, Simha-Ganesha holds Hiranyakashipu’s heart, while his other hand is entwined with the demon’s entrails, referencing the violent yet righteous way in which Narasimha ended Hiranyakashipu’s tyranny in Hindu mythology. The work blends Ganesha’s gentle, elephant-headed form with the leonine features of Narasimha, including a muscular physique and intense expression, symbolizing both compassion and the fierce protection of dharma. This interpretation captures the duality of divine power—protective and destructive—necessary to uphold cosmic order.
