Mahatapasi Hanuman - The Great Meditator
Mahatapasi Hanuman - The Great Meditator
Hanuman expanded the notion of the divine, perhaps more than any other being in Hindu mythology. He is viewed as the ideal combination of "strength, heroic initiative and assertive excellence" and "loving, emotional devotion to his personal god Rama", as Shakti and Bhakti.
He appeared as an agent governed by Dharma like any human, yet while in an animal form he was divine.
Hanuman was portrayed in the mythos as, and is still believed to be, a great scholar, yogi as well as an unusually talented musician. He is described as an erudite grammarian and poet.
He was, and is, the best example to Hindus of an ideal devotee and the most adorable and worshipped among the popular devotees in the Hindu pantheon.
He symbolizes the human excellences of inner self-control, faith, and service to a cause, hidden behind the first impressions of a being who looks like an Ape-Man Vanara. Hanuman is considered a bachelor and exemplary celibate.
