This sculpture is a detailed recreation of Somaskanda, a South Indian iconographic form showing Shiva with his consort Uma (Parvati) and their son Skanda (Murugan). Seated on a rectangular base, Shiva is depicted in a calm meditative pose with four arms, holding a trident and a deer. Uma sits gracefully beside him, with one hand in a gesture of assurance (abhaya mudra).

Between them stands the child Skanda in a lively pose, arms raised, emphasizing the familial bond. The composition reflects Chola-period bronze artistry, where divine presence is expressed through serene symmetry, balance, and idealized forms. Somaskanda images were often enshrined in temples to represent divine grace, fertility, and cosmic harmony."
