Yogeshwara: Shiva in Divine Stillness

"This finely detailed sculpture represents Lord Shiva in serene meditative posture, seated in padmasana on a stylized lotus pedestal. The figure is framed within a richly ornamented prabhavali (arch).The backrest, with its scrolling flames and kirtimukha motif, anchors the divine presence.  Shiva holds a trident (trishula) in one hand and a small drum (damaru) in the other, symbolizing destruction and creation. A skull motif on his shoulder, snakes as armlets, and the crescent moon in his matted locks reflect his ascetic and cosmic aspects.

The composition integrates symbolic elements—the third eye, the rudraksha garland, and the tiger skin base—evoking Shiva’s role as both Yogeshwara (Lord of Yoga) and Mahadeva (Great God)."
